Properties:
Decanol is a colorless, transparent, viscous liquid with an ester-like fragrance. It has strong refractive properties and is insoluble in water, but miscible with alcohols, ethers, chloroform, and other organic solvents.
Applications:
Plasticizers: Mainly used in the manufacture of phthalate ester plasticizers such as di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and as a raw material for lubricants and surfactants.
Solvent: Used as a solvent for rubber, resins, inks, dyes, waxes, and nitrocellulose.
